Terms of use and disclaimer

These terms cover voting.md: the website, the VOTING.md skill file, the API at /api/v1 and the MCP server at /mcp (together, “voting.md”). By using voting.md you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use it.

In short: use it at your own risk. Information here may be inaccurate or not current and isn’t verified, figures are estimates, nothing here is legal, governance, election, corporate, financial or security or any other advice, voting.md never runs, hosts, certifies or enforces an election, never verifies a voter, and never casts a vote a person didn't instruct, and you are responsible for what your agents do.

1.Use at your own risk

voting.md is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, availability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk.

2.Information may be wrong or out of date

voting.md shows no third-party data: no prices, rates, fees, market data or provider data, and it fetches nothing from other sites. Every number a tool uses comes from your request or from a generic formula the tool states. Those formulas are simplifications. They can be wrong for your case, and the skill and this site can be inaccurate, incomplete or not current.

Check every figure yourself, with the people and sources you rely on, before you act on it.

3.Not advice

Nothing here is legal, governance, election, corporate, financial, security or other advice, and no result here is a certified, official, binding or legally effective outcome. Nothing on voting.md is a recommendation or endorsement of any provider, product or service. The VOTING.md skill is guidance for software agents and doesn’t guarantee any outcome.

The tools calculate, compare and check what you send against rules you choose. They don’t approve, enforce, certify or verify anything, including anyone’s identity, they can miss problems, and a clean result isn’t an approval or an assurance. Nothing on voting.md makes anything compliant with a law, regulation or standard, legally valid, or safe.

voting.md is not an election authority, a voting system, a ballot host, a registrar, a returning officer, a notary or a governance platform. It doesn’t open, host, run, close, certify, audit or enforce any vote, doesn’t register or verify any voter, and doesn’t cast any ballot.

voting.md has no voters, ballots or results of its own. Every voter, weight, ballot, delegation, rule and time comes from you and the people and agents you deal with, and is taken as given; nothing here checks who really cast a ballot, whether they were entitled to, or whether a delegation was really given.

A tally here is arithmetic on the ballots you send, by the method you chose. It is not a certified, official, binding or legally effective outcome. Whether a question may be put to a vote, who has the authority to hold it, what quorum and threshold apply, and what a result binds are matters for you, your organization’s rules, your agreements and your advisers.

voting.md must not be used for public or government elections, referendums or ballot measures, anywhere, for any purpose, including counting, forecasting, advising or influencing. The skill tells an agent to refuse.

Vote specs, invitations and reminders are drafts. The skill tells an agent to start a vote, send an invitation or cast a ballot only as the person instructed and approved, from accounts the person gave it; you remain responsible for what your agent sends, casts or starts.

Counting methods are implemented as described in each tool’s formula. Different rules (for example how ties, exhausted ballots or partial rankings are treated) can give different results; if your rules differ, the tool’s result doesn’t apply.

The simulated vote on the home page is a demonstration with made-up agents and ballots. It is not a live vote, and nothing in it is real data.

The formats and the planned plug-in points describe formats and plans. Planned items are not live, have no dates and may change or never happen. Nothing on voting.md creates an agreement between you and any voter, agent or organization.

4.You’re responsible for your agents

voting.md never runs, hosts, certifies or enforces an election, never verifies a voter, and never casts a vote a person didn't instruct. Anything your agents do runs on your own accounts, under the terms of the services you use, at your cost. You are responsible for the settings you choose, for approvals, for your credentials and for following every service’s terms and the law. Settings an agent drafted are yours only once you agree to them.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operators and contributors of voting.md against any claim, loss or cost arising from your use of voting.md, your agents’ actions, or your dealings with suppliers, carriers, brokers or anyone else.

5.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators and contributors of voting.md are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, data, profits or business, arising from your use of, or inability to use, voting.md or any information from it, even if told such loss was possible. Where liability can’t be excluded, our total liability is limited to US$100.

6.Sources and trademarks

The skill and the tools use generic terms and public, generic formulas. Names of standards, units, trade terms and file formats are used only to describe them. Example option and voter labels are made up.

Where code on voting.md (for example, an install command or a configuration file name) mentions a tool, client or service so that it works with it, that name is a trademark of its owner, used only for compatibility. voting.md is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them. If you own a mark and want us to change how we use it, write to us and we’ll act promptly.

7.Acceptable use

Don’t overload, attack or try to disrupt voting.md, and don’t use it to break the law or anyone else’s terms. We may rate-limit, block, change or stop any part of voting.md at any time, without notice.

8.Privacy

voting.md has no accounts, sets no cookies and asks for no personal information. To learn what’s useful, we count page views, copies, skill fetches and API and MCP calls with anonymous server-side events. We store no IP addresses: a one-way daily hash of the IP address and browser string counts unique visitors, and the country comes from our host’s request headers. Counting runs only on the live site, and visiting with ?internal=1 turns it off in that browser.

Settings and anything you send to a tool are used only to answer that request. voting.md doesn’t store them and doesn’t send their values to analytics: only the tool name, a known preset name and how many settings were given. Our host keeps standard server logs.

9.License

The VOTING.md skill and this site’s code are under the MIT License. Anything owned by third parties is not covered by that license.

10.Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and continued use means you accept it.

The changelog, the updates shown on the page and any list of planned work describe what has shipped and what we are weighing. They are information, not a commitment to build, keep or support anything, and planned items can change or be dropped without notice.
